Over the course of one year, Anna will be an ambassador of Contemporary Music starting out in Austria travelling the world in search of new sounds working with composers and musicians of diverse backgrounds. Our journey will bring us through the USA, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and Vietnam to play, create, improvise, teach, learn, and expand our network.
The Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs will be supporting this project with the help of a global network of embassies, cultural forums and consulates. This is a tremendous privilege for which I am forever grateful. The program is called New Austrian Sound of Music (NASOM) and allows me to travel and carry the spirit of contemporary Austrian music around the world. Travelling from one country to the next, we will bring music with us and promote intercultural dialogue and exchange across national borders.
Ultimately, Connecting the Dots should reflect the diversity of our planet – people and cultures as well as landscapes and nature. So Sebastian will document the entire project with his cameras and microphones. Some of the imagery will be used as visuals to go with the music during Annas concerts. Photographs, videos, and sound samples from around the world will make the bigger picture easier to grasp – for our audience and for ourselves. In this project, we are aiming at connecting all the things that matter to us and make our view on the world heard and seen.
